2.5 Warranty against defects (also known as Manufacturers Warranty)

A warranty against defects is a representation made at or about the time of supply that states:

  • if goods are defective they will be repaired or replaced or compensation will be provided
  • if services are defective they will be provided again or rectified or compensation will be provided.

These are sometimes known as a manufacturer’s warranty or an extended warranty.

Do you tell consumers that your goods or services are subject to a warranty against defects?
Do you refer consumers straight to manufacturers when they have problems?
